Runoff & Soil Protection: Landscaping and campus grounds operations strictly utilize non-toxic, organic fertilizers and bio-degradable cleaning agents to eliminate harmful chemical leaching into groundwater and surrounding soil biomes.
Routine Environmental Auditing: Environmental safety officers perform quarterly water quality checks on all outflow points to ensure compliance with national environmental protection baselines.
2. Policy on Plastic Waste Reduction (Indicator 15.4.2)
Plastic accumulation presents a severe hazard to terrestrial fauna and soil quality. SIU enforces an institutional policy on reducing plastic waste on campus, driving a structured transition toward a single-use-plastic-free academic environment.

1. PURPOSE & INTENT
Swiss International University establishes this policy to define binding operational standards for land-sensitive waste disposal. This framework ensures that all campus liquid discharge, solid waste, plastics, and hazardous substances are managed safely to protect local biomes, native wildlife, and human welfare in full alignment with UN SDG 15.
2. MANDATORY POLICY STATEMENTS
Section 2.1: Water Quality Standards and Discharge Guidelines
The University mandates strict water quality standards and guidelines for all water discharges across campus facilities. All wastewater and liquid runoff must be monitored and pre-treated to uphold water quality, protecting terrestrial ecosystems, soil health, local wildlife, and human health and welfare.
Section 2.2: Campus Plastic Waste Reduction Policy
Swiss International University strictly enforces a policy on reducing plastic waste on campus. Single-use plastics are banned across all dining services, administrative units, and university-hosted events, with mandatory utilization of reusable or compostable alternatives.
Section 2.3: Hazardous Waste Disposal Policy & Process
The University enforces a standardized policy, process, and practice on waste disposal covering hazardous materials. All hazardous chemical, biological, radiological, and electronic waste must be safely contained, logged, and processed via licensed environmental disposal partners to prevent ground contamination.
