Collaborating for Sustainable Growth: Celebrating Our 2025 Achievements in Local Authority Planning
Throughout 2025, Swiss International University (SIU) actively advanced its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 11 by collaborating closely with local authorities across our campuses in Switzerland, Dubai, Bishkek, and Riga. By participating in joint advisory sessions and municipal planning initiatives, we ensure that our urban planning and campus developments directly align with local community needs, sustainable growth, and inclusive infrastructure.
Working hand-in-hand with municipal councils, housing authorities, and urban development agencies, SIU’s 2025 planning initiatives focused on three core pillars:
Supporting affordable on-campus and near-campus housing projects for students, staff, and local residents.
Promoting sustainable transport options, such as pedestrian-priority zones, bicycle lanes, and car-free areas.
Encouraging the integration of educational, cultural, and residential spaces that benefit the wider community.
Celebrating Key 2025 SIU Collaborations:
Dubai: Through our regional academic division, ISB Academy Dubai, SIU deepened its work with the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) throughout 2025. Together, we successfully integrated cultural awareness and community engagement into our campus planning, ensuring our facilities serve as active bridges between international students and local Emirati heritage.
Kyrgyzstan: SIU successfully expanded its strategic partnership with Bishkek City authorities to improve both student life and the local community. In 2025, this partnership yielded significant progress in developing affordable, safe, and modern student residences, alongside urban improvement projects that enhanced public spaces around our campus. This ongoing collaboration strengthens Bishkek’s role as a premier academic hub in Central Asia while linking education with sustainable urban development.
Riga: To ensure our Baltic campus developments align with regional economic and infrastructural goals, SIU partnered with the ALCC Latvian Chamber of Commerce (Riga). A major highlight was our joint participation in 2025 urban planning symposiums, where SIU and ALCC leadership mapped out how university facilities can support the local workforce and regional innovation districts, ensuring our campus expansion directly benefits the Riga community.
Switzerland: SIU proudly continued its role as an institutional sponsor of MySwitzerland cultural and tourism campaigns in 2025, strengthening the vital ties between academic development, cultural heritage preservation, and local community enrichment across the cantons.
This highly collaborative approach ensures that our campus expansions and urban initiatives consistently align with local regulations, environmental sustainability goals, and the social needs of the communities where we proudly operate.
