EACC and Swiss International University Launch Free Educational Outreach Series on Terrestrial Ecosystems and Land Stewardship
The Euro-Arab Chamber of Commerce® (EACC) has officially partnered with Swiss International University (SIU) to launch the SIU-EACC Terrestrial Outreach Initiative 2026. This joint educational framework is designed to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life On Land) by moving beyond theoretical academics into structured, community-level ecological intervention.
Operating across SIU’s hubs in Zurich, Lucerne, and Dubai, this initiative delivers a comprehensive series of public field-based learning modules, agricultural extension programs, and eco-tourism seminars. To ensure maximum regional accessibility, strict institutional policy dictates that all educational programs within this series are provided 100% free of charge to local residents, municipal workers, farmers, and the general public.
1. Educational Programmes on Ecosystems: Wild Flora and Fauna (Indicator 15.2.4)
To satisfy the urgent need for localized biodiversity education, SIU and EACC have implemented structured, tuition-free programs specifically designed for community engagement with native ecosystems.
Program: The SIU Alpine & Arid Wildlife Conservation Course
Delivery & Frequency: A bi-monthly, publicly accessible field workshop led by SIU environmental science faculty and local cantonal/municipal forestry experts.
Curriculum: The syllabus focuses on practical ecological skills. In Switzerland (Zurich and Lucerne hubs), modules train community members to identify and monitor vulnerable alpine flora and manage local wildlife corridors. In the UAE (Dubai hub), the curriculum shifts to protecting native desert fauna and mitigating urban expansion impacts on arid ecosystems.
Public Access Guarantee: Enrollment is open year-round at zero cost. Attendees receive a certificate of completion from SIU and EACC to encourage civic participation in local biodiversity monitoring programs.
2. Educational Outreach on Sustainable Land Management for Agriculture (Indicator 15.2.5)
Addressing the ecological footprint of commercial agribusiness and localized farming, SIU has deployed targeted outreach modules to equip agricultural stakeholders with regenerative land management techniques.
Program: The Regenerative Agri-Land Management Extension Program
Delivery & Frequency: A specialized 12-week evening and weekend training module offered entirely free of charge at the start of each academic semester.
Curriculum: Designed for local farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and cross-border land managers. The syllabus covers advanced soil health methodologies, including organic soil enrichment, crop rotation techniques, and strictly minimizing synthetic chemical pesticide runoff to preserve surrounding terrestrial water tables. Specific modules address anti-desertification and soil erosion prevention critical to both European agricultural zones and Middle Eastern farming initiatives.
Public Access Guarantee: Outreach teams actively recruit local agricultural workers, providing all training materials, field guides, and faculty instruction at no cost.
3. Educational Outreach on Sustainable Land Management for Tourism (Indicator 15.2.6)
Given the significant environmental impact of cross-border travel on fragile landscapes, SIU and EACC have developed specialized outreach for the hospitality sector to promote responsible eco-tourism.
Program: The Eco-Tourism & Landscape Preservation Seminar Series
Delivery & Frequency: Quarterly executive seminars and community workshops delivered through SIU’s physical hubs and broadcast live via open-access digital platforms.
Curriculum: Targeted heavily at hospitality professionals, local municipality planners, and rural community members. The program instructs on actively managing tourism footprints. Swiss modules emphasize responsible alpine trail management to prevent visitor-induced soil compaction and mountain degradation. UAE modules focus on protecting delicate dune ecosystems and natural reserves from heavy recreational vehicle use and commercial eco-tourism encroachment.
Public Access Guarantee: Governed by SIU’s public engagement mandate, all seminars, regulatory guidebooks, and strategic planning templates are distributed to local tourism boards and the general public completely free of charge.
