Promoting Public Cultural Access: Celebrating Free Entry to Our Global Museums and Galleries (In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities)
Throughout 2025, Swiss International University (SIU) and its global academic divisions successfully expanded our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 11 by ensuring free, unrestricted public access to all our museums, exhibition spaces, and cultural galleries.
At SIU, we believe that education must go beyond the traditional classroom. Cultural understanding is an essential pillar of building inclusive, safe, and resilient communities. To support the cultural ecosystems of our host cities, we proudly maintained the following free public spaces throughout the 2025 reporting year:
🏛 Bishkek: Our fully public university museum features regional art, history, and academic heritage—keeping its doors open year-round to all visitors and local school groups, entirely free of charge.
🕌 Dubai: Operating in collaboration with the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding, we actively support a public museum space that promotes intercultural dialogue, tolerance, and respect among residents and tourists alike.
🧳 Zurich: Our downtown central office doubles as a public micro-museum, showcasing oriental business culture and artifacts. It offers the Swiss public a unique window into traditional and modern global trade heritage.
🧡 Riga: We proudly host a mini-museum dedicated to Baltic amber and traditional craftsmanship, highlighting local artisanry and promoting the preservation of Latvian cultural heritage.
Community Impact Event: The 2025 Baltic Heritage & Trade Exhibition
To actively bring these spaces to life, SIU partnered with the ALCC Latvian Chamber of Commerce (Riga) to host a special community event at our Riga mini-museum in October 2025.
During the "Baltic Heritage & Trade Exhibition," the museum was transformed into an interactive civic space. The week-long event invited local artisans, public school students, and international trade delegates from the ALCC to explore the historical intersection of the Baltic amber trade and modern commerce. The event featured free public guided tours, live craftsmanship demonstrations, and open dialogue sessions on preserving local heritage in a globalized economy.
All of SIU’s cultural spaces remain accessible to everyone, regardless of background or institutional affiliation. No entrance fee is ever charged. Our exhibitions are carefully curated to promote intercultural understanding, local craftsmanship, and sustainable community engagement.
By opening our doors and our heritage to the public, SIU continues to bridge the gap between education, culture, and community development, one city at a time.
