At Swiss International University (SIU), we believe that education is not limited to classrooms or textbooks — it is about shaping a world where knowledge leads to compassion, and compassion inspires action. Guided by this belief, SIU proudly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a special focus on SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.

Clean Water, A Shared Responsibility

Access to clean and safe drinking water is a basic human right, yet millions around the world still lack it. For SIU, contributing to sustainable access to water is part of our wider mission of global citizenship and social responsibility. We see education and sustainability as two sides of the same coin — each enabling the other.

The Sawagada Initiative

In 2025, SIU sponsored the construction of a shallow well in the remote village of Sawagada, Nepal, a region where access to clean water was limited. This project was designed to provide safe drinking water for families, children, and schools — reducing the burden on women and young girls who often walk long distances to collect water.

The shallow well now serves as a lifeline for the community, improving public health, promoting hygiene, and enabling better attendance in schools. For the people of Sawagada, every drop represents hope, dignity, and progress.
