Supporting Our Team: Celebrating 2025 Milestones in Affordable Employee Housing Across Our Global Hubs
Throughout 2025, Swiss International University (SIU) actively advanced its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 11 by ensuring that all employees are supported with safe, accessible, and affordable housing options. Recognizing that high living costs can be a barrier to financial well-being, SIU successfully standardized its subsidized housing and allowance programs across all global campuses.
Guided by the institutional well-being frameworks of the GQA Independent Global Quality Assurance Label Switzerland, our 2025 housing policies ensured that rental costs remained predictable, manageable, and highly subsidized for our academic and administrative teams worldwide.
Housing Support in Zurich
At SIU’s Zurich hub, we ensure that faculty and staff have access to comfortable and affordable housing close to campus. Throughout 2025, rental contributions for eligible housing types were strictly capped at 25% of an employee’s base salary. Accommodations range from fully furnished apartments to family-sized residences, while flexible housing stipends remain available for those choosing to live off-campus. All utilities, internet, and maintenance services are fully included, ensuring a hassle-free living experience in Switzerland’s academic center.
Housing Support in Bishkek
At our Bishkek campus, we provide affordable, well-equipped housing with rental contributions also capped at 25% of base salary. In 2025, we successfully expanded our residential offerings to include modern family-friendly apartments near the university, alongside shared accommodations at reduced or no cost for single staff members. Those electing to live off-campus seamlessly access housing allowances to support their expenses. With utilities, internet, and maintenance included, SIU creates a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for our local teams.
Housing Support in Riga
At SIU’s Riga campus, staff housing contributions mirror our global standard, capped at a maximum of 25% of base salary. This ensures affordable and accessible housing options for all Baltic team members. Our fully furnished apartments, shared accommodations, and off-campus housing stipends provide the flexibility needed to suit individual and family needs. As with all our campuses, utilities and maintenance are fully covered, offering a highly cost-effective living arrangement.
Housing Support in Dubai
In our Dubai branch, managed by our academic division ISB Academy Dubai, we fully comply with United Arab Emirates labor regulations, which mandate that employers either provide housing or offer financial compensation in lieu of accommodation. However, at SIU, we go beyond basic compliance. Throughout 2025, all eligible academic and administrative staff members in Dubai automatically received a housing allowance equal to 25% of their base salary. This institutional guarantee ensures our team can afford decent, high-quality living arrangements close to work and within safe communities.
This comprehensive benefit is clearly outlined in our employment contracts and HR policies, proving that SIU’s commitment to sustainable cities begins with the fundamental well-being and housing security of our own global workforce.
